The Engelhardt family comes from Himmelskron, a small Hamlet about 20km from Bayreuth. Johan Peter Engelhardt left his home as a young man to seek his fortune in Bayreuth. He rose to the position of court tailor at the court of the ... of Bayreuth-Brandenburg.
When times became uneasy in Bayreuth, his grandsons Sebastian and Johan Christian Wilhelm, as well as his granddaughter Apollonia migrated to Trieste. Johan Christian later moved to Görz (Gorizia today) with his family. The family remained in Görz until WWI. After that we find traces of the family in Vienna, Villach, the US and Egypt.
